I started to prepare my work environment – i do not believe that i need the whole stuff but at least Iam prepared if it is working well…

The ground for the workspace is a hot zinc diped metal which i have enough in my garage… iam not using the standard green stuff made from plastic as i do use a kind of china clay on it and this metal is easier to clean.

The Material for forming the Shuttle prototypes is China Clay.

Using a Cutter Knife i cutted a piece from it and put the bigger stuff directly into an air-proof bag. the China clay is drying if it is put into the environment of air. in total it is also reducing up to 7% of its size which should be still okish as it would be less than a milimeter…

From this block i used a lineal to cut Pieces from it. Using my Excel file, I decided to use the scale who is mainly used for the USS Voyager 1:677. And with a lineal i cutted pieces out of it.

The Blanks from the left to the right are for Shuttles Type 6- 7- 8- 9A- 10- 11- 15- 17- 18

After having this done, i started to have a bit more modeling done and started with the left one. Type 6!

I do realized that the China Clay may not the best material for it as it breaks easily if you add some pressure. For that reason i decided that i let it dry and see if i can grind the not required material to form the final shuttle design. Below a small comparison with a 1cent piece.

As the china clay need to dry now – i will put it away and wait for a week until follow up.

next step (3#) is following soon…
