Around 1996 – at least I believe it should be this year, I got a mug for my Birthday and it displays Geordie La Forge and a signature on the backside.
Back in 2020 – I still have this mug and she survived 14 different apartments in 9 different Cities without any chips, dents, or cracks. On my Birthday, I got told that, if you fill a hot fluid into the mug, Geordie will disappear. It never worked. but I wasn’t caring I like the mug. In 2020 I thought that it might be cool to get the full set and I started an investigation. I figured out that around – at least – 6 mugs existing. I finally found a batch of 6 mugs on eBay. All carton-packed and never used. I made a price offer and got them for around 70 bucks plus transportation and customs and it ended at 140 Euro. Picard, Worf, Riker, Deanna, Data, and Wesley got delivered a month later.
After having them in my hands, I searched a bit more and I do found Beverly as well. at this moment (stand July 2021) I believe the full set is made of 8 mugs. IF you do know there are more mugs available – please leave me a comment.
The MUGS
Each mug got delivered in a standard folded Carton, nothing special . in each Mug is a simple piece of thin carton paper as below and stating the company name “Houze Magic Color Incorporating”
The Transporter Function.
as known, those mugs are more than 25 years old now. the Transporter function is no longer working well. I do use Deannas-mug to show you the effect. The Picture to the left shows you the cold condition
If it is turned hot now, Deanna should disappear. The effect simply takes up to 2 min if boiled tea or coffee is filled in. My First Mug, Geordie is in general in this “hot”-condition. I do believe he was used in a microwave or was standing in a showcase in the sun which can alter the process. Even the Paper which is coming with the Mug is stating a max temperature of 170degrees Fahrenheit which means around 76 in celsius. Does it mean it could even happen with boiled water (100 celsius) to kill the process? I am not testing it.
