The last weeks are crazy. Heat was coming – legs are hurting and now something happen with my teeth.. Waiting for the next appointment to cut the nerves on two tooth in my mouth… Anyway – normally i should have this done within 2- 3h, but due to the pain it took me already more than 6h to just build the first overview which is even not competitive.
As i am, from work perspective an “Excelist” with good skills, I for sure started to summarize it in Excel.. As you can see below I have only one shuttle with all sizes.
Writing this text – i do realized that i do not have written the Target for this story..
here it comes…
As you may know iam building at the moment the USS-Reliant in the Scale of 1:537. That means this is quite big.
For comparison reason the model of this size for an Enterprise D would have a length of 1.2 meter. As i do want to build all standard Starfleet-ships this will never fit my Apartement. So i have to go smaller.. i decided to use the 1:1400 scale which still contain a lot of standard model kit which are still detailed enough…
Nevertheless, I do build for the Reliant the Shuttlebay which shall contain some Shuttles, too. Those Shuttles needs to be build by myself AND i want to have some light on it. At least the Nacelles should be inclusive light available…
The issue is that for 1:537 sizes it seems to be possible, moving into smaller sizes this is adding some complexity as the light size need to decrease as well…
For that reason the target here is to review the possibility to build shuttles with lights..
A Type 10 shuttle has already a size of length 6.9mm x hide 2,4mm x wide 4,4mm. Even a Standard LED is bigger.
Learning by doing is core and i will start with the biggest size of 1:350 – based on model scales.. The above mentioned shuttle from the U.S.S. Defiant would have a size of length 27,6mm x 9,6mm x 16,7mm. after it is workable i will rescale to the smaller 1:537 size, afterwards 1:650 then 1:1000 and then 1:1400… i do believe that the size of 1:3600 (DS9 model scale) seems impossible but you never know…
Following up soon…
